Who is ArtsNOW?
ArtsNOW is a nationally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit with over 20 years of experience reshaping education. If you’ve seen our signs at your child’s school, it means that ArtsNOW has partnered with your school to bring learning to life with arts integration.
ArtsNOW provides professional learning to teachers that integrates visual arts, music, dance, digital arts, and theatre into academic lessons. Your child may experience dance techniques while learning about fractions or apply repetition in visual arts during a poetry unit.
ArtsNOW sets the stage for educators to become effective in their teaching — and for students to achieve greater academic and personal success.
Arts integration creates a positive impact for teachers and students alike. When supported with training and integrated curriculum development, educators report greater confidence in their teaching. Meanwhile, students demonstrate greater engagement in learning and improved standardized test scores. Studies show that access to integrated learning benefits all students.
Who is arts integration?
The Kennedy Center defines arts integration as an approach to teaching in which students construct and demonstrate understanding through an art form. Students engage in a creative process that connects an art form and another subject area, allowing them to meet evolving objectives in both.
Arts integration is designed to be a joyful, active, and memorable learning experience. Incorporating the five recognized arts disciplines—visual arts, dance arts, theatre arts, music arts, and digital media arts—arts integration aligns with common core standard practices and fine arts standards. The arts become an approach to teaching and a vehicle for learning.
ArtsNOW Partner Schools
Partner schools are at varying points in their arts integration journey, and ArtsNOW is there to support them every step of the way. Each school is working to ensure that the arts are embedded as part of its culture. Some schools have a specific focus or grade level, while others have a school-wide focus. All are working in partnership with ArtsNOW to advance their local school plans, knowing that they have the support and encouragement of a nationally recognized 501 (c) (3) nonprofit.
