March 2024 – Celebrate Youth Art Month With Us!

March 2024 – Celebrate Youth Art Month With Us!

One of our amazing consultants, Katy, recently stopped by Asa Hilliard Elementary School to provide customized visual arts-integrated strategies, guidance, and demonstrations.

This visit was made possible because in 2021, Learn4Life named ArtsNOW as an Early Literacy Bright Spot. This is an honor that recognizes our ”uncommon success in raising a key outcome along the cradle to career continuum.”

Thanks to the generous donation from a private donor, ArtsNOW has been able to provide two-year grants to four metro Atlanta schools that showed a need for literacy intervention. Asa Hilliard Elementary is one of those four schools.

It has been an honor to champion the cause for literacy with a visual arts component! Each visit just like this one has met with excitement and eagerness to learn from all students.

“I really enjoyed this PLC! I loved that you kept our attention and smiles upon our faces."

ArtsNOW Principals’ Network Conference Explored UnchARTed Arts Integration Opportunities

ArtsNOW was honored to host our second annual Principals' Network Conference, February 8-9, 2024, at Embassy Suites Downtown Greenville, South Carolina. The conference provided an excellent opportunity for principals in all stages of the arts integration journey to network with colleagues, learn from other principals and leaders, and hear about opportunities for their schools. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Thursday, February 8, began with a kick-off network reception for all attendees, followed by a full day of conference sessions February 9. Executive Director of Arts Education Partnership Jamie Kasper provided opening comments to set the stage. The remainder of the day consisted of breakout sessions facilitated by principals and ArtsNOW team members, as well as an opportunity to speak with representatives from partner organizations from both Georgia and South Carolina. David A. Dik, National Executive Director of Young Audiences Arts for Learning, provided reflective closing remarks.

Over 50 administrators and educational leaders attended the conference. Thirty-six schools and 18 districts from South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama were represented. Representatives from Arts Grow SC, South Carolina Arts Commission, ABC, A+ Schools of North Carolina, and Executive Directors from Arts Education Partnership and Young Audiences Arts for Learning attended.

Every attendee strongly agreed that the conference experience was "useful and worth my time."

Here are some comments that principals shared with us:

"This was exactly what my heart needed. I now know that I'm not alone on this journey. So many resources and people to network with. The facility/venue is like a hallmark movie – just simply beautiful!"

"Very informative and motivating."

"I loved the SEL session grounding activity. We will implement this immediately. I enjoyed year two! Thank you for pouring into leaders. The cup-filling activity filled my cup!"

ArtsNOW Partners with PSAE for Annual Conference

artsNow Press Release October 10 2023
ArtsNOW was honored to partner with Palmetto State Arts Educators (PSAE) in hosting their annual conference for arts educators, integrators, and advocates. This year's theme was JOY, and joy was evident throughout the two-day event.

ArtsNOW team members in attendance enjoyed networking and connecting with current ArtsNOW school partners and partner organizations, as well as making new connections from around the state. We were thrilled to facilitate five different presentations supporting arts integration, arts integration administrators, and STEAM initiatives. We were also proud to support our partner schools as they presented sessions.

We look forward to continuing our partnership with PSAE and collaborating on next year's conference!

With a map and schedule in hand, guests will then tour classrooms, observe, engage with students, and enjoy examples of learning artifacts. Educators are encouraged to explore a variety of subjects and art forms showcased throughout the school.

Each Demonstration of Learning Day typically lasts about 3 hours in the morning. For example, it may begin at 8:30 a.m. and finish at 11:30 a.m. (Specific start and end times will be published closer to each date.) The day will conclude with a group debrief and to answer any questions.
