What is a Demonstration of Learning Day?
ArtsNOW Leadership Schools open their doors for a half day to welcome educators, district leaders, and community partners to see arts-integration strategies in the classroom.
ArtsNOW Demonstration of Learning Days invite visitors to tour a school and see arts-integrated lessons in action. Teacher and student engagement is visible, energizing, and inspiring. You cannot walk the halls without hearing the sounds of creating, sharing, and learning!
This year, we have planned five (5) ArtsNOW Demonstration of Learning Days to accommodate your schedule and showcase different types of schools in a variety of locations. Cannons Elementary School
1315 Old Converse Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307
Cannons Elementary School serves 4K through 5th grade in Spartanburg District 3 and has been an ABC School since 2011. Now in its fourth year as an ArtsNOW partner, Cannons continues to deepen the commitment to arts integration while consistently earning an 'Excellent' rating on the South Carolina Report Card.
The school is also a recipient of the Distinguished Arts Program Grant from the South Carolina Department of Education. As a Compassionate Schools model, Cannons uses Conscious Discipline practices to support emotional regulation and cultivate a calm, focused learning environment.
East Aiken School of the Arts

East Aiken School of the Arts is an established arts-magnet school that focuses on data-driven and arts-integrated instruction to meet the needs of all learners. They joined ArtsNOW as a partner school in 2022 through a three-year funding initiative from Arts Grow SC, and have continued to partner with ArtsNOW since. East Aiken is an ABC-certified school and has been recognized continuously for their excellence in arts education.
Principal Lisa Fallow presented at the ArtsNOW Principals’ Network Conference in 2024 on “The ABCs of Leading an Arts-Integrated School” and is a champion of cultivating an arts-integration school-wide culture from the top down.
Dowell Elementary School

Dowell Elementary is one of six schools that participated in the $2.78 million ArtsNOW “STEM + the Art of Integrated Learning (SAIL)” grant through the U.S. Department of Education. Come observe teachers across all grade levels bring learning to life through arts integration and STEAM instruction.
Dowell Elementary has received both STEAM and Arts Integration certifications from the Cobb County School District and values STEAM-based instruction to help every learner succeed. These learning initiatives can be viewed both inside the classroom, as well as throughout the hallways, reflecting a school-wide culture of innovative and engaging education.
Deer Chase Elementary School

Deer Chase Elementary School is a long-time ArtsNOW partner school representing a strong regional presence in the Augusta, GA area and funded with generous support from The Chestnut Family Foundation. Alongside Ellen Woodside, they were chosen in the fall of 2025 as the Georgia Leadership School for the “Educational Advancement through STEM Engagement” (EASE) federal grant.
The EASE grant is a collaborative effort among the YA national office and two affiliates - ArtsNOW and Young Audiences of Louisiana. It is designed to improve K-5 math and science achievement through arts-integrated STEM learning. With support from ArtsNOW, Principal Tamarah Bing and her team of teacher leaders are leading three other Richmond County Public Schools to address student learning gaps through innovative teaching strategies while ensuring all students have access to high-quality educational resources and opportunities.

Ellen Woodside Elementary School

With support from ArtsNOW, Principal Shawn McCain and his team of teacher leaders are leading three other Greenville County Schools to address student learning gaps through innovative teaching strategies while ensuring all students have access to high-quality educational resources and opportunities.
Each Demonstration of Learning Day is customized to the school’s schedule. The day will begin with a welcome from ArtsNOW and school leaders. A brief overview will share school data, insights, and success with their arts integration approach.
With a map and schedule in hand, guests will then tour classrooms, observe, engage with students, and enjoy examples of learning artifacts. Educators are encouraged to explore a variety of subjects and art forms showcased throughout the school. The day will conclude with a group debrief and to answer any questions.
