Students will use drama to explore the story elements of the text, The Tortoise and the Hare. This will be achieved through tableau, pantomime and story-telling during a read-aloud of the text. The strategy: Teacher-In-Role will be used to analyze the main character of the story. This role-playing exercise will aid in students’ articulation of the story’s problem and solution. Students will give the main character advice after carefully considering his problem. Students will then practice retelling the story including all of the critical major events in the retell.
