Darlene Guida, ArtsNow Music Consultant, served as the Lead Elementary Music Teacher for 37 schools in the Clayton County Public School System. In July 2012, she retired after 34 years in that position. She has served as Georgia State Chair for Music In Our Schools and Sixth District Chair. Darlene is a Teacher Support Specialist and is on the Educational Leadership Committee for Clayton State University.

Darlene holds a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Georgia State University and an Education Leadership Degree from West Georgia University. She is also a certified Orff instructor.

During her distinguished career, Darlene received numerous awards including Teacher of the Year, Star Teacher Award, P.T.A. Award for Excellent Programming, Who’s Who of Teachers, Who’s Who Among Women; in addition,she was nominated for the Disney Teacher’s Award and the Distinguished Music Educator Award. Darlene was instrumental in creating the first elementary School of the Arts Magnet Program and led that program from its inception in January 2009; she also initiated the Middle School Fine Arts Magnet Program at the request of the district superintendent, resulting in the first K-12 Fine Arts Magnet Program in the Southern Crescent. Her entire career has been spent spreading the love of music and educating others about the benefits of the total development inherent through the disciplines of music.
